on california streets and highways over the holiday weekend. that's 10 more than a year ago. the chp investigated the deaths of 21 people in cars from wednesday night to last night. 13 of those 21 were not wearing isn'ts. here in the bay area, 6 people were killed in 5 different accidents and there were 224dui arrests. >>> more than a dozen people were hospitalized from carbon monoxide exposure on sunday but officials aren't sure where it came from. it happened at a home in bernal heights. fire crews called to the home around . most suffered minor exposure. they were treated at a hospital and later released. crews from pg&e and the department of public health were called in to help investigate. >> when we arrived, we checked the residents with our air monitors and we found no sign of carbon monoxide. however, we checked the residents and they had showed signs of carbon monoxide on them. >>> pg&e checked the house and could not find the source of the carbon monoxide. >>> parishioners of the one of the oldest african-american churches say they want a new leader. john hunter was appoint

california men are behind bars accused of plotting to join al qaeda and kill americans. suspects range in age from 21 to 34, all arrested in l.a. they each will face 15 years in prison. >> it's 6:08. let's check weather. >> the rain is coming. >> we have the holidays around the corner now. we want to clear things out. i think we'll do that. but right now we are seeing showers outside. hi-def doppler showing most of that moisture located in the north bay. we have had about a third of an inch in the santa rosa area already more than that over some of the mountaintops. but some of it spreading south a couple of sprinkles along the peninsula so watch out for that. most of the activity so far located to the north and most of it just some warm frontal moisture. the cold front still hung up to the north has a ways to go before it gets here bringing more substantial rainfall. you can see though the cold front located here in northern california will drop into the bay area but keep that umbrella handy today. you may need it and probably by the afternoon more so especially in the north bay. outside tho

for rain, fairly quiet but in far northern california it's moving in associated with the low that's starting to slide down the coastline bringing with it a chance of rain. partly cloudy skies outside right now. it's a little chilly and the winds continuing to whip around so watch out for debris on the roads. temperatures mainly in the 40s and 50s. it looks like toward the afternoon we had some highs yesterday in the 60s and 70s. today we'll be lucky to get in the low 60s in parts of the bay area. so yeah, it is going to be cool and it will possibly be a little bit wet at times too. maybe a couple of snowflakes over the mountaintops. that's the latest from here. let's send it back to traffic with elizabeth. >> we are starting to heat up on the roads including in the south bay. look at our live camera now quite a bit different than just a half hour ago. northbound 101 this is near the trimble exit where we have our photographer standing by this morning showing you those brake lights in the commute direction. we had a fender-bender and stall on the incline. metering lights on extra e

and get to my gate. >> reporter: yesterday was rough for flyers. 81 flights within california were canceled because of weather and travelers actually had to be rerouted. but to ease a little frustration we have tips for savvy travelers this morning. one, check your own bags. some airlines will let you tag your own bag and skip that extra line. tip 2, tsa has a precheck program. if you sign up for this, you can pass through a separate security line saving extra time. and three, there are new smartphone appears that keep track of how long you'll spend in the security lines so you can plan ahead. we want to make note that basically, the amount of traffic isn't just something we're seeing here but we're also seeing down in san jose. you're taking a live look now at san jose airport. and they are expected to see an uptick in travelers also about 2% more than last year. and today is expected to be their busiest day. so really the key is to plan ahead. i spoke with airport representative on the phone a few moments ago who can't stress enough that they want people to show up ahead of time
